Absorption Runes - Warrior only?
A while ago we were given new utility runes available to all classes, with effects like +energy or reduced condition durations. Not only were the arguments on why the Absorption rune should have been left only to Warriors in the past poor in my opinion, but now it seems to me that there's even more reason for them to be available to everyone, now that all of those other runes are available to every class, which have effects roughly equal to that of the absorption runes.
If another class wants to sacrifice a rune slot to be able to take a little more damage, they should be allowed to. This is no longer an issue of the Warriors having a tiny edge over every other class, since everyone else has something they can choose to use instead, and now anyone who wants to use one would have to give up a little extra health, energy etc. But the issue now is that there is absolutely no reason for it not to be available to all classes, and this senselessly removes options. The old arguments against this that I remember were that "Warriors 'need' the Absorption rune", something about their low energy, and apparently they didn't believe 100 defense was enough compensation. And the more reasonable argument that, since almost every non-warrior had at least 1 unused rune slot back then, everyone would end up using an Absorption rune, and it's very existence would become pointless. So basically, you're giving every single player -3 physical damage, especially in PvP? Please no. In PvE, warrior's should have the edge in tanking, because that's what they're designed for. And in PvP no good warriors use absorption either way because attacking a warrior with physical is retarded, and because warrior's already have so man must-have runes.
And pray tell why is the second argument no longer a problem? I can't think of a single rune that I would rather use than free 3 damage absorption, especially on casters who are almost always attacked by physical (PvP perspective). The only people that wouldn't use the absorption rune are warriors, for reasons already stated in the above paragraph. So then the only real use of making it available to everyone would be to basically make PvE easier and to make it harder to kill things in PvP. |

Really, once you allow other classes to start using the -3 absorption runes, there won't be much of a reason to take wammos anymore. Might as well make your entire tank line dervishes. Sure their armour isn't quite as tough as tanks, but with the right enchant skills or secondary skills, they can be even better. Absorption should be warrior only. Otherwise once we start crossing class specific advantages, we'll ending up moving towards the whole one-class-does-all blandness.

This is going no where... you last three have very little idea what your talking about, and probably didn't even read the whole OP.
I know from experience that arguing in this situation is completely pointless, so I'm done with this thread. Any points I make will just be completely ignored, and then all three of you will continue to restate what you just said again and again with different words. They are Warrior only for one reason.
Once you understand that reason, you'll see this thread is pointless. But you'll have to find that reason by yourself. |
